After a dedicated pre season, A grade were excited to take the court for our first game. We were happy with our first 3 quarters but will work on the way we finish. There were a few wet and bruised bodies ready to bounce back for our next game. Erin and Bree looked great in their Huntly uniform for their first game.
Ashlea Sherlock received the Red Energy Arena award and Taylor Mann received the Huntly FNC dinner award.

With a brand new team, A Res took the court excited for the 2023 season! Despite a 56-31 loss to Elmore, the girls didn’t let them have it easily and played a strong four quarters. Our two awards were given for a consistent effort and doing the job our coaches asked of them. The Bendigo Braves award went to Phoebe Kane and the Huntly FNC Dinner went to Ellie Disher.

The first game of the season was a big one for B Grade with Jenna Baker celebrating her 200th for the Hawks. We wanted the win and we knew it'd be tough. It was a fairly even affair in the first half. Both sides having passages of success but also making errors. Down by 1 goal at half time, the coaches made a minor change that made a major difference. By 3 quarter time we'd snuck to a 6 goal lead and continued that momentum in the last to beat Elmore 51 to 38. Jenna had a ripper for her 200th and everyone was commended for a whole team contribution to the win. Awards went to Taylah (ASQ) for her tenacity in attack and defence and the pressure she brought to her opponents, and Laura (Huntly FNC Dinner) for her outstanding defensive pressure and decision making. An awesome start to the season!

Huntly B-Res are continuing their undefeated streak from last season with a well fought win against Elmore 53 - 42. The girls worked well together as a team, making the most of the loose balls & backing each other up in slippery conditions. The Sports Power incentive award went to Anna Kane for her defensive pressure in GD & the Huntly FNC incentive award went to Georgia Smith for her excellent shooting and drives into the goal ring.
